As each one of my kids have been babies I have sung them their own lullabys'. I wanted to write them down so the kids will remember the ones that they have.
Anikka's song goes like this:
Rock a bye
Rock a bye
Don't you cry
We'll go down to Grammies
Up on the hill
Down by the mill
To see the little lambies.
Ben's song is the mocking bird lullaby
Hush little baby, Don't say a Word
Mama's going to buy you a Mockingbird
If that Mockingbird won't sing
Mama's going to buy you a Diamond Ring
If that Diamond Ring turns Brass
Mama's going to buy you a Looking Glass
If that looking Glass gets Broke
Mama's going to buy you a Billy Goat
If that Billy Goat runs away
Mama's going to buy you anotherDay.
Mac's lullaby was very hard to find. When he was almost 4 months old I heard the song Edelwiess and that was a perfect lullaby for him.
Edelwiess, EdelweissEvery morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You seem happy to meet
Blossoms of snow
May you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my Homeland forever.
Ike's lullaby seemed to just come right away. It is a Church song and it is just his.
We have been born
as Nephi of old
to goodly parents
who love the Lord.
We have been taught
and we understand
that we must do
as the Lord commands.
We are as the army of Helaman
We have been taught in our youth
and we will be the Lord's misionaries
to bring the world it's truth.
I love that each song was just a good fit for each child and I love that they will still ask me to sing them their songs occasionally. I hope it helps them know that each one of them are so special to their Dad and to me. We love all of them so much.

I like that tradition. What a sweet reminder of when they were young, rocking them to sleep.
What a beautiful and personally unique tradition. You are such an incredible mom!
